The process of translation is the second step in gene expression and involves the transfer of genetic information from RNA to protein. Translation occurs on ribosomes, which are composed of both protein and RNA components. The ribosome uses the information in the mRNA to assemble a polypeptide chain with the help of transfer RNA (tRNA) molecules.
